Ray Downs speaks at NAEC's Annual Convention and Exposition
Mr. Downs, a 27 year veteran and industry leader in Safety Compliance, presented on the Basic Safety Standards for the Elevator Industry to many different groups at the convention, including: elevator industry owners, engineers, building management, consultants, government officials, insurance brokers and elevator field mechanics on the job.
Mr. Downs addressed many topics, including: fall protection, control of elevator operation, hazardous energy, high hazardous operations and the implication they all play in the Insurance Industry; both from a Worker's Compensation and General Liability perspective.
Those in attendance raised questions such as: how could they enhance their safety programs and where they could find NAEC resources to assist them with their programs. Downs stated that the Elevator Industry Field Employee Safety Handbook has recently been revised with up-to-dated standards to include the NFPA 70E - Arc Flash Standard and the Confined Space Entry Standard that is in effect starting October 3, 2015 by the Department of Labor and Industry - Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Mr. Downs also stated that the NAEC safety committee was available to address and respond to safety questions and concerns.
The next NAEC round table discussions are slated for Toronto Canada in the 2016 calendar year.
